maybe

To most, the word “maybe” signifies indecision. As I stood beside a waterfall in Olympic National Park, I contemplated each drop of water, feeling a sense of sorrow for their lack of control over their path and destiny as they were carried away in the violent flow. Suddenly, a voice within me whispered:

Maybe they just surrender.”

I saw parallels with my own life – not controlling every moment, but embracing the flow. If we let go of the need for certainty, we might rediscover a childlike sense of wonder and awe.

Maybe” offers a more profound and expansive way of being, one that embraces the unknown and uncertainty, leaving room for endless wonder. My photography embodies these concepts. It challenges the viewer to think: is it a memory? Is it a dream? Or perhaps a deep rooted desire? In this way, the audience becomes an integral part of the art, their own stories and creativity central to its interpretation. Through this interplay, “maybe” becomes a powerful lens for exploring and embracing the inherent mystery in both life and art.
